Recreation Programs

Spring Fling at City Hall 
- Each child can play games in the various departments and receives prizes and candy. Children bring your containers 
and parents bring your camera to take pictures. Different characters could be found roaming the hall. 
2017 Spring Fling - Tuesday, April 11th @ City Hall - 3:00-5:00pm


SUMMER FUNTASTIKS - for children ages 5 – 12 (To participate, children have to at least be 5 years old by June 12th and can NOT 13 when the program starts)

 Meets Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM 

2017 Information
Fees: $545 for entire 6 weeks (includes shirt and bag) 
        $40 additional fee non-residents
(make checks payable to the City of Hendersonville)

Registration Dates: OPEN Registration will be from Monday, April 24th until all vacancies are filled. OPEN Registration is for any child who wishes to attend camp this year and did not attend camp last year.  The number of vacancies that will be available during OPEN Registration will depend upon how many participants, from last year, PRE Register. The number of  vacancies is 50 participants. The site will be monitored daily to keep the most accurate count. The online registration will stop once the number is reached. 

Camp Dates: June 12 - July 21
- Runs for 6 weeks
- Meets at Whitten Elementary!!
- There are additional charges each week for field trips ($7-$15 average)

(Children generally go: bowling, skating, swimming, putt putt golf, family fun center, may eat out, etc.)

- Children are to bring snack/lunch/drinks daily
- Camp fee has to be paid at time of registration and all fees are non-refundable

KIDS CLUB -  Children with disabilities
--Meets Monday–Friday from 8:30 AM – 1:30  PM
--Fee - $225 for entire 6 weeks
--Additional fee of $40 for anyone NOT living in the Hendersonville City Limits.
--Bring lunch/drinks daily
--Field trip costs are extra
- Meets at Merrol Hyde Magnet School!! (not at Whitten Elementary, due to renovations)


Lunch with Santa - Takes place usually first Saturday in December. Children have lunch and visit with Santa(usually 2 slices of pizza, drink, bag of goodies and stocking etc. from Santa). No late sign-ups, everyone MUST be pre-registered. Registration takes place in the Parks Department at City Hall or by clicking HERE.  

Each family will receive a free 5 x 7 photo.




Other  Annual Programs:

Pre-School Track Meet - This event is held each fall at Drakes Creek Park Football Field. It is a 1-day event that consists of a 25yd dash, mini hurdles, and tennis ball throw for children ages 3-5. (Age as of October 31, 2016) In addition, there is an optional mini-mile run. Each child will receive a t-shirt and there will be ribbons for the winners in their specific age division. Parents are welcome to bring your camera and take pictures.

Halloweenfest at City Hall - Children are invited to dress up and Trick-or-Treat at City Hall from 3 PM – 5 PM on October 31st. (If October 31st falls on a Saturday or Sunday, this will be held the Friday before). There may be activities set up for the children to participate in. Halloweenfest activities for City Employees take place on this day as well.
